Assam Rifles convoy ambushed; Ulfa(I) claims responsibility | Guwahati News – Times of India

GUWAHATI: A patrol comprising three vehicles of Assam Rifles, traveling from Changlang in Arunachal Pradesh to Margherita in Assam, was ambushed by Ulfa(I) militants near Namdang at approximately 8:30 am on Tuesday.
Defence PRO lieutenant colonel Mahendra Rawat mentioned that the troops retaliated and successfully thwarted the ambush. “In the process, one person sustained gunshot wounds.The individual has been evacuated to the military hospital in Jorhat, and his condition is stable.”
Ulfa(I) communicated via email to TOI, taking responsibility for the incident, mentioned that the United Liberation Front of Assam [Independent] carried out a military operation named ‘Operation Revenge’ in honor of Martyr 2nd lieutenant Gyan Assam, sergeant major Yangkhu Assam, and lieutenant Uday Assam, specifically targeting the 13th Assam Rifles.
