Dr. Akhlaq, brother-in-law of gangster Atiq Ahmed, has been suspended by the Health Department of UP. He was posted at the Community Health Center in Meerut. He has been arrested on April 1 for giving shelter to Guddu Muslim and Asad, accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. Akhlaq is also accused of helping the shooters.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi has moved the Gujarat High Court to stay the 2-year sentence awarded in the defamation case. He has challenged the decision of the Surat court in the High Court. A single judge bench can hear Rahul’s petition this week. Earlier, on April 20, the Surat court had dismissed Rahul’s plea seeking a stay on the conviction.

1. Atiq’s brother-in-law suspended, police repeat crime scene of Asad-Ghulam encounter

In the CCTV footage found from Akhlaq’s house, he was seen hugging Guddu Bombaz. Dr. Akhlaq was arrested by the UP STF on 1 April. After questioning, he was sent to Naini jail. Atiq’s son Asad, shooter Guddu Muslim and Sabir had come to Meerut after killing Umesh Pal. All three stayed at Akhlaq’s house. Even before this, Atiq’s shooters often used to stay at Akhlaq’s house.

On the other hand, the investigation into the Asad-Ghulam encounter has started in Jhansi. 12 days after the incident, the UP STF team, which conducted the encounter, along with the Jhansi forensic team reached Parichha Dam. Here Police recreated the crime scene, Asad and Ghulam Mohammad were absconding since the murder of Umesh Pal on 24 February. The Supreme Court will hear on April 28 the petition of seven wrestlers demanding registration of an FIR against Wrestling Association President Brij Bhushan Singh. Water metro is fully charged in 15 minutes, 100 passengers can sit in fully air-conditioned boat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first water metro in Kochi, Kerala. The cost of this project is Rs 1,137 crore. The water metro will connect 10 islands in and around Kochi. The Metro is powered by a Lithium Titanate Oxide (LTO) battery. The battery capacity is 122 kWh.

This battery is of new technology. It can be charged in 10 to 15 minutes. Super-chargers have been installed in floating jetties at select locations. The boat also has a generator back-up. Boats are fully air-conditioned. A total of 78 eco-friendly boats will run for passenger service. Of these, 23 boats can carry 100 passengers, the remaining 55 boats can carry 50 passengers.
