Australian Sikh Games concluded, Prime Minister appreciated. Chandigarh News – Times of India

Amritsar: 35th Australian Sikh Games (ASG) concluded on the Gold Coast of Australia on Sunday. The three-day games began nearly three weeks after a small group of Khalistani separatists stormed the Indian consulate in Brisbane. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier said in his message, “These games will work to bring the two countries closer.”
The ASG was organized by the Australian National Sikh Play and Cultural Council (ANSSACC), Brisbane. The body aims to promote the values ​​of Sikhism, showcase Sikh culture and promote lifelong enjoyment of sport while instilling core values ​​of discipline, teamwork, respect and integrity through the annual ASG.
According to ANSSACC, the ASG attracted over one lakh people. Around 4,000 athletes participated in 14 different sports including cricket, kabaddi, volleyball, athletics, touch football, golf, netball, basketball and hockey during the event.
In his message, Modi said: “The holy gurus guided India and the world with many eternal and timeless values. If one closely observes the lives and teachings of the holy gurus, they emphasized the importance of physical health along with spiritual development. He said that these games would help the Sikh community to showcase their sportsmanship, competitive spirit and teamwork on a bigger platform. He also recently witnessed a cricket match between India and Australia along with the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese. PM Modi said, “The Indian diaspora has carved a niche for itself in the global scenario and these Games are another example of the same.”
