Ayodhya: Ten days after a Class 10 girl student died after ‘falling’ from the terrace of her school in Ayodhya, the police claimed on Sunday that she had committed suicide. Ruling out gangrape and murder, the police have arrested a minor student for abetting suicide and the school manager for destroying evidence. ayodhya police On Sunday, the school manager and a minor student were arrested and sent to jail. The remand magistrate allowed both to be kept in judicial custody for 14 days. The minor student has been sent to a juvenile home.
On May 26, a girl student of a private school died in the hospital due to serious injuries after falling from the roof of the school. The family of the 15-year-old girl had alleged that she was gang-raped by two teachers of the school and later thrown from the terrace of the school building.
The incident was captured in the CCTV camera of the school. Based on a complaint by the girl’s family, the school owner, principal and sports teachers were booked under provisions of the POCSO Act besides gangrape, murder, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence.
Ayodhya Additional Superintendent of Police Madhuvan Singh told reporters that during the investigation by the SIT, it was found that the allegations of rape and murder were not matching with the evidence.
“We have ruled out rape and murder. The findings of medico-legal experts and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have ruled out rape and murder and said that the girl had fallen from the terrace with an intention to commit suicide,” he said.
Police said that on the basis of investigation, we have booked the school manager under IPC sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 201 (causing destruction of evidence). A minor boy, aged 15 and a student of the same school, has been booked under IPC section 305 (abetment of suicide).
Singh said, “We have not given a clean chit to anyone so far. The investigation is on and we are working on the matter every day. Based on the findings, we will release further details.”
In the FIR, the parents of the 15-year-old girl had claimed that they had received a call from the school principal asking them to come. Later, the school authorities informed the parents that the minor had fallen from the swing and was seriously injured and was admitted to the hospital. When the relatives reached the hospital, they found him dead. Later, CCTV footage surfaced in which the girl was caught falling from the roof of the school.
