Bastar: The Naxal Story box office collection day four: Adah Sharma starrer crashes on Monday, collects just Rs 24 lakhs | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

It is often seen that after a successful film, the team behind it faces the pressure of replicating the success. And that exactly seemed the plan for Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Adah Sharma and director Sudipto Sen, who earlier released ‘The Kerala Story‘ and followed it up with ‘Bastar: The Naxal Story‘. But while their first collaboration worked wonders at the box office, Bastar is finding it difficult to woo the audience.
The film opened on Friday to Rs 40 lakhs, saw a jump on Saturday and Sunday to collect Rs 75 lakhs and Rs 85 lakhs respectively, taking the weekend total to Rs 2.05 crore. But the film on Monday crashed heavily to collect lower than its opening day. As per Sacnilk, ‘Bastar: The Naxal Story’ collected just Rs 24 lakhs, taking the grand total to Rs 2.24 crore. The film is a major letdown for the makers who were hoping to hit the jackpot like ‘The Kerala Story’, which was based on the subject of Hindu women being converted to Muslim. It was the biggest sleeper hit of the year which went on to make Rs 241 crore by the end of its theatrical run.
It seems unlikely for ‘Bastar: The Naxal Story’ to have a long run at the box office given the way the collections are going. The film is the latest addition to the nationalistic films which has been churning out in the last few years be it The Kashmir Files, The Kerala Story, Article 370 and many more, which has emerged as a popular genre in recent times.
