‘Beggar’ arrested for rape, murder of minor Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: A 21-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in connection with the horrific incident. rape and the murder of a 13-year-old girl, whose body was found in the city’s Aji industrial area on June 27, two days after she went missing.
The accused, identified as Jaideep alias Jayu Parmar, was a native of Surendranagar district and used to survive by begging. Police said that the accused was also involved in petty crimes like pickpocketing.
The deceased girl had gone to collect wood on June 27 but did not return till late night. His mother lodged a complaint of kidnapping at Aji Bandh police station. Using CCTV footage, human sources and technical surveillance, the girl’s body was traced near a closed lathe machine unit.
“The special investigation team The team formed to investigate the matter has arrested Jaideep Parmar. He commits petty crimes and also begs to survive,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Partharajsinh Gohil told TOI.
Gohil said that accused Parmar had come in contact with the uncle of the deceased girl and used to visit his house frequently.
According to the police, on June 27, the girl went to collect firewood as per her daily routine and Parmar followed her to the industrial unit. “Parmar lured the girl to a room in the factory and allegedly raped her. The accused feared that if he left the girl alive, she would tell about him to her family. Therefore, he hit the girl several times on her head and face with a heavy object, resulting in her death,” police said.
Later the accused joined the family in search of the missing girl. He also went to the police station with the girl’s family. Later, when the police started recording the statements of the family and others, Parmar feared that he would be caught and fled.
Further background check of Parmar revealed that in 2022 he was arrested in a theft case.
The girl has two sisters and a younger brother. Her father is a driver and the family’s Rajasthan Rajasthan But have been living in the city for the past several years.
