This will be Tikait’s first meeting with Rahul Gandhi during his visit. Rahul’s yatra reached Haryana via Ghaziabad, Shamli and Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh but Tikait did not join the yatra there. However, Rahul Gandhi had invited Tikait to join the yatra. On January 9, under the banner of Bhakiyu (Tikait), Rakesh Tikait will talk to Rahul on the issue of farmers in Congress-ruled states. The Congress government has been formed in Himachal Pradesh recently, so there will be talk of the farmers here. The issue of subsidy for apple orchard farmers will be taken up.
There will also be talk of the government giving subsidy on small agricultural machinery to the farmers here. Sugarcane is also grown in some plains of Himachal Pradesh, but there is no sugar mill here. Therefore, these farmers have to send their crops to the plains via Paonta Sahib, due to which the cost is high.

Similarly, there are Congress governments in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan as well. There will be a demand to give free electricity to the farmers. The issue of sugarcane farmers is currently hot in Haryana as well. Therefore, the issue here will also be raised in front of Rahul. Lok Sabha elections are to be held in 2024, so this meeting of Tikait with Rahul is of great importance. If there is an agreement on these issues then it will be discussed further, otherwise not.
