Bhogi smog in Chennai: Seven flights diverted | Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: Seven flights were diverted to Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Bengaluru and around 20 flights were delayed due to poor visibility caused by Bhogi pollution at Chennai airport on Sunday.
The flights were affected from 4am to 8.30am. Flights from Colombo, Singapore, London, Kuwait City, Addis Ababa, Mumbai and Delhi were diverted to other airports.
Departures resumed after 8.30am. Most of the early morning departures were delayed by close to two hours.
A smog had enveloped the city after people burned waste to observe Bhogi day of Pongal festival.
