Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation will deploy drones for mosquito control in the city. Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will start chemical spraying using drones to tackle the mosquito menace in the city.
It will be deployed in inaccessible places such as abandoned plots, narrow streets and pools. The civic body will also increase manpower and infrastructure for fogging.
The menace of mosquitoes in the city has forced the civic body to think differently. Manpower and existing infrastructure are not sufficient to deal with this specific problem. Keeping this in mind, BMC has decided to use drones in some difficult areas.
“We are all worried about the menace of mosquitoes in the city. We have organized a special meeting to discuss the issue. like Kolkata Municipal Corporation ,KMC), we will identify the source of mosquitoes and control its growth through drones. It will start from December 23,” said the mayor of Bhubaneswar Sulochana Das,
bmc commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange He said they would deploy drones at inaccessible places where fogging vehicles or chemical spraying machines cannot enter. “We have completed the process for this. This too will start very soon.
He said the BMC team would identify mosquito breeding spots including water bodies, deserted plots and narrow lanes and spray chemicals using drones.
The state government had launched a drone survey last month to facilitate the process of giving land papers to slum dwellers in the city. Drones were also used in the city during the time of Kovid for proper monitoring of Kovid-19 lockdown.
Official sources said that the BMC has already followed a practice to reduce the source of breeding of mosquitoes in the city. For this he is organizing ‘Dry Day’.
The commissioner said that BMC is taking all necessary steps for proper fogging. We will increase manpower by forming three new fogging teams for the next one month. They will start working from Friday. We are emphasizing on large scale cleaning and cutting of bushes in many places where mosquito menace is rampant. The exercise of cutting the bush will also be started. A scientific team will also study on their life cycle and advise the team to control it.”
The civic body was criticized for the rise in dengue cases in the city from July to October.
