PM Modi had announced on 8 September 2022 to change the name of Rajpath to Kartavya Path.

There are some 100 year old jamun trees on the duty path in Delhi. Now bidding will be done for plucking fruits from these trees. Officials say that this step will generate revenue. People will not throw stones to pluck fruits, there will be no danger of injury to the tourists coming here.

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has issued a notice for this. CPWD has invited proposals from people to bid in the open auction. The starting price of the auction has been kept at Rs 1.30 lakh. In this the successful bidder will collect the fruits by 31st August

In the notice issued for the auction, CPWD said that the fruits will be collected without damaging the trunk of the tree. Collecting fruits with the help of rope or swing will not be allowed.

Rajpath got the name of duty path last year
Under the Central Vista Project, a 3 km long road from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate was redeveloped. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 September 2022. On the same day, he had announced to change its name from Rajpath to Kartavya Path.

PM Modi said that the path of duty is not just a path of bricks and stones. It is a living passage of India’s democratic past and timeless ideals. When the people of the country will come here, the statue of Netaji, the National War Memorial, all these things will give them a great inspiration and will fill them with a sense of duty.
