The wrestlers had a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on June 4. - Dainik Bhaskar

The wrestlers had a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on June 4.

The Ministry of Home Affairs became active after the ruckus in front of the new Parliament House and the FIR of the wrestlers came to the fore on May 28 in the wrestling and WFI ex-president Brij Bhushan dispute. On June 4, Bajrang Vinesh and Sakshi Malik met Home Minister Amit Shah at his house which lasted for two hours. No third party was present in this meeting.

Wrestlers, who have been protesting since April 23 demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh, suddenly became silent. The main reason for this is believed to be the meeting with Amit Shah. The big reason for this is also that immediately after this the wrestlers joined their duty.

Although Bajrang, Vinesh and Sakshi have clarified that they have returned to work to fulfill their responsibilities, their fight for justice will continue. Because of this whole controversy, there is uneasiness within the BJP as well. A large section of the BJP is in favor of action against Brij Bhushan Singh.

These leaders of Haryana and UP played the role of mediator
Muzaffarnagar MP and Union Minister of State Dr. Sanjeev Balyan spoke to the wrestlers. He was assured to meet a top leader at the Centre. According to media reports, Baghpat MP Satyapal Singh also appeared in the role of mediator in this dispute. The central government was determined to pacify the wrestlers’ issue by any means, so a two-way dialogue with the wrestlers started.

Leaders of Haryana on one side and UP on the other, came forward for this. According to a Khap representative from Haryana, a meeting between the wrestlers and the mediators of the central government took place at Kerala House, adjacent to Jantar Mantar. This meeting took place in the last week of May. It was from here that the way for Amit Shah’s meeting with the wrestlers opened.

Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana Kartikeya Sharma, Charkhi Dadri MLA Sombir Sangwan and the governor of a large BJP-ruled state strove for Shah’s meeting. The special thing is that Kartikeya Sharma from Haryana reached the Rajya Sabha as an independent candidate. Sombir Sangwan is also an independent MLA. He defeated BJP leader and wrestler Babita Phogat in the last assembly elections.

Effect seen in Khap Panchayat of Soram (Muzaffarnagar)
In Haridwar, Naresh Tikait had asked the wrestlers for 5 days. He had assured that Khap Panchayat and farmers’ organizations would do something or the other during this period. Khap representatives from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi met at Soram (Muzaffarnagar). It was believed that there would be a major decision in the meeting, but Rakesh Tikait said, the Panchayat has taken the decision and its information will be given in the Khap Panchayat to be held in Kurukshetra.

The special thing is that this was the panchayat, when for the first time the voice was heard that the movement of wrestlers is being hijacked. There was something like a tussle between the khap representatives. Nothing special happened in the Panchayat of Kurukshetra. There also the government was given time till June 9.

If Brij Bhushan Singh is not arrested during this period, then farmers’ organizations and khap panchayats will once again reach Jantar Mantar with wrestlers. While the Khap Panchayat of Kurukshetra was going on, at the same time news came that Brij Bhushan Singh’s rally to be held in Ayodhya has been postponed. It was not a coincidence, but it was the effect of the central government’s entry into the wrestlers’ movement.

From June 1, the Ministry of Home Affairs made contact with the wrestlers
Khaps from 5 states participated in the mahapanchayat held at Soram in Muzaffarnagar, UP on June 1. Wrestlers had also reached here. During this panchayat, Khap representatives started receiving calls from the Ministry of Home Affairs. In the call in which talk was said about finding a solution to this issue through talks. On which the Khap representatives said that they should talk to the wrestlers about this. It is necessary to have their satisfaction. It is expected that from this day itself efforts were started to bring the players to the negotiating table from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Center does not agree to arrest
According to media reports, the Center is ready to accept five demands of the wrestlers. These include women’s wrestling camp from Lucknow to Patiala, removal of the accused coach, suspension of WFI, withdrawal of riot cases filed against wrestlers and handing over the command of women’s wrestling to a woman. The Center is forming a committee of 4 ministers to hold talks with the wrestlers. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur will have 2 more ministers besides one woman minister.

However, the government is not agreeable to the condition of Brijbhushan’s arrest and complete ouster from the Federation. The government says that the wrestlers can get the investigation done by any agency, but they cannot directly order the arrest of Brij Bhushan. The condition of the government for conducting the hearing of the case in the fast track court is that the wrestlers leave the strike and return to the game.

The Kapil Dev-led Indian cricket team, which created history by winning the 1983 World Cup, has supported the wrestlers.

Confusion continues
– Till now it is not known for certain that what happened behind the scenes in the last few hours, due to which the wrestlers met Amit Shah and who was the facilitator of this meeting?
The biggest question at this point of time is whether the protest will continue even after the wrestlers return to their jobs.
– The question is also that if wrestlers continue to go to their jobs then who will lead this movement?
It is also a shocking news for the wrestlers who have been telling Khaps their great strength that now Khaps have left everything on the players. It has been said that they will do as the wrestler says.
Nothing has been said clearly on this issue from the side of the wrestlers. All he has said is that this movement will continue.
