Jiya Shankar, who rose to prominence with her performance in the film Ved followed by her stint in Bigg Boss OTT 2, is currently going through a difficult phase in her life. The actress recently dropped a post on her X (Formerly Twitter) handle sharing that her mom, Surekha Gavli, is hospitalised. While sharing the post, she also urged her fans to pray for her mother’s speedy recovery. In her post, Jiya wrote, “Hi fam hope y’all are doing well. My mom’s really sick and has been hospitalised. We’ve been put in a tough situation again. I believe prayers can make miracles. Please keep my mom in your prayers. It’d mean a lot to me at this point. Thank you, God bless y’all. Stay healthy.”

As per the reports, Jiya’s mother has been admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai. The actress, when asked about her mother’s health during an interaction with Times Now, said, “I am not in a state to talk about it right now.” Hours before sharing her mother’s condition with her fans, Jiya had posted a selfie of herself on her Instagram handle. The picture displayed the Ved actress lying on her bed with a dull face, holding a soft toy as she revealed being sick. Sharing the snap, the former Bigg Boss OTT contestant wrote, “Sick again. Send some love.”

During her stint in the Bigg Boss OTT 2, Jiya, in a heartfelt conversation with Elvish Yadav, made a few shocking revelations. The actress revealed she and her mother were abandoned by her father. Further, she revealed being brought up by her mother who was a single parent to her.

Jiya Shankar started her career in 2013. She has appeared in several shows on Television like Laal Ishq, Kaatelal & Sons, and Pishachini. After her stint in the Bigg Boss OTT 2, the actress also starred in a music video Judaiyaan with her co-contestant in the house, Abhishek Malhan.
