Bihar CM Nitish Kumar inaugurates Rs 13.9 crore model hospital in Banka | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated a newly constructed Model Hospital in the premises of the Banka Sadar hospital in Banka district. The Model Hospital has been constructed at a cost of Rs 13.9 crore.
He also inspected different parts of the just inaugurated Model Hospital and inquired about the facilities being provided to patients, facilities of free medicines and housing facilities of the doctors.
The CM also went to Jamui district and inspected the recently damaged Sono-Churhait causeway built on the Barnar river in Sono block of the district. The bridge was damaged recently due to heavy rains in the region.
After inspecting the damaged bridge, Nitish asked the additional chief secretary (road construction) Pratyaya Amrit (who was accompanying the CM) to restart traffic on the road before the forthcoming Chhath puja by setting up a Bailey bridge.
He also asked Amrit to start work for making a new bridge in place of the damaged causeway by preparing the detailed project report of the upcoming bridge.
State’s science and technology minister Sumit Kumar Singh also was present when the CM was inspecting the damaged causeway.
Earlier while inspecting a ‘digital library’ at the RMK High School in Banka, the CM voiced his displeasure over the library signboard bearing the inscription in English. Nitish became upset upon seeing the signboard stating it was a “Digital Library.”
“Why the name of the library written in English? Why not in Hindi language? Are we living in the British era?” Nitish asked from the Banka DM Anshul Kumar who was accompanying him during the inspection of the library.
“I have nothing against the use of the English language. It was the medium of my instruction while I was studying engineering. Many of my speeches in the Parliament, too, were in English. But, at one point of time, I decided to promote the use of Hindi. I therefore gave up putting on my signature in English. Please get this signboard changed into Hindi, at the earliest,” Nitish told the DM.
Consequently, the DM assured the chief minister that the signboard would be changed today itself.
Earlier, the CM also inspected a renovated indoor stadium at Banka and inquired from the badminton players (present in the stadium) about the facilities being provided for them.
