Bitcoin: Liechtenstein’s government plans to accept bitcoin for payments – Times of India

The government of Liechtenstein plans to accept Bitcoin As payment for state services, the prime minister Daniel Risk told the German newspaper Handelsblatt.
The offer envisages any swap immediately cryptocurrency received for Swiss FrancAccording to Risch, to avoid exchange rate risk. The franc is the official currency of the principality and bitcoin will not be given the same status, he said.
Risch – who also serves as finance minister – indicated an openness to investing state reserves in cryptoassets in the future. Each year, the debt-free country saves three times its 900-million-franc ($1 billion) annual budget, Handelsblatt said, investing the money in securities.
“Crypto assets like bitcoin are still very risky,” Risch said. “But this assessment may be changing.”
