The BJP also claimed that the police remained mute spectators.
“Terror continues in West Bengal. Two tribal women were stripped naked, tortured and mercilessly thrashed in Pakua Haat area of Malda’s Bamangola police station, while the police remained mute spectators,” said BJP’s IT department head. Amit Malviya said in a Twitter post.
Malaviya claimed that the incident took place on July 19 in Malda, in which a ‘frenzied mob thirsted for his blood’.
He also posted a video with blurred images of the crime.
Malviya said in a tweet, “It was such a tragedy that Mamata Banerjee’s heart should have been ‘broken’ and she could have taken action instead of just showing outrage, as she is also the Home Minister of Bengal…but she chose to do nothing.”
Opposition parties are targeting the BJP over the incident of two women being paraded naked in caste violence-hit Manipur, where it is in power.
Criticizing Banerjee, Malviya said she decided to do nothing in the matter. He said, “Neither did he condemn the vandalism nor express pain and anguish because that would have exposed his own failure as a chief minister.”
