Addressing a poll rally here to campaign for Murlidhar Patil, a Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) candidate from Khanapur, Raut also accused the BJP of being a “Maharashtra hater”.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not enjoy the support of the people and wins elections by rigging Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Addressing an election rally here to campaign for Murlidhar Patil, the Maharashtra Ekkaran Samiti (MES) candidate from Khanapur, Raut also accused the BJP of being a “Maharashtra hater” and said whenever the Marathi psyche is strong , she hatches a conspiracy – be it against the Marathi-speaking border areas of Maharashtra or Karnataka.

He also asked people not to entertain the BJP, Congress and Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde when leaders of these parties come from Maharashtra for campaigning.

While the Congress is the main opposition party seeking the ouster of the BJP government in Karnataka, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has fielded candidates for the assembly elections in the state.

“Take care of the EVM. BJP wins with the help of EVM. You vote for Stool (the symbol of the MES candidate) in the morning and it becomes something else in the evening. This has to be taken care of. They (BJP) do not have the support of the people and win by indulging in scams. This is the picture everywhere in the country,” he said.

He said that whether it was Uddhav Thackeray or NCP president Sharad Pawar, he always had affection for the integration committee and the Marathi manoos in the Marathi-speaking areas of Karnataka.

MES is a body fighting for the rights of Marathi-speaking areas in the Belagavi-Karwar regions of Karnataka, where assembly elections are due on May 10.
