Siddaramaiah alleged that the BJP “could not provide even a single house, complete irrigation” to each member of below poverty line (BPL) families under the ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme, reducing free rice from seven kg to four kg per month. Projects” could not.

Former Karnataka chief minister and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Wednesday alleged that the ruling BJP wanted to win the assembly elections with “money power” as they had “no development work to show to the people”.

He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of remaining silent on price rise, unemployment and corruption in the state during his series of public meetings during his campaign for the elections due today.

“Money is flowing (in elections). Now what else has BJP done apart from giving money to the voters? What can they say about the state except that they have money? What development has he done?” the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, who is contesting from Varuna in Mysuru district, said.

Siddaramaiah alleged that the BJP cannot provide “one house, complete irrigation projects” from 7 kg to 4 kg of free rice per month for each member of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families under the ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme.

The achievements of BJP in four years are zero. That’s why they want to win elections on the power of money.

He said, ‘Prime Minister’s rallies will have no effect. Did he say anything on inflation, unemployment, corruption especially on 40 per cent commission? Two years ago, a petition was filed with him regarding 40 per cent commission. Did he say anything about the action taken on that petition?” Siddaramaiah asked.

The BJP has fielded Housing Minister V Somanna against him from Varuna.

75-year-old Siddaramaiah has said that this will be his last election, after which he will walk away from electoral politics.

The polling began at 7 in the morning and will continue till 6 in the evening. The counting of votes for the 224-member assembly elections will take place on May 13.
