Blinkit: Zomato issues clarification on Blinkit delivery staff strike – Times of India

zomato issued a clarification to Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on the recent protest by its delivery staff. The protests resulted in disruptions to Blinkit, the grocery unit of the quick-commerce company. Blinkit’s services have been ‘temporarily unavailable’ in several parts of the Delhi-NCR region. The striking workers are reportedly demanding withdrawal of the company’s revised pay structure, which they claim has reduced their earnings. blinkit has changed its payout system from a flat Rs 25 per delivery (Rs 7 during peak hours) to Rs 15 per delivery with a minimum charge as well as a distance-based component.
According to some media reports, Blinkit deactivated the IDs of some activists after several rounds of talks failed. The company has also reported sending messages to some delivery staff informing them of dark store closures and ID deactivations in certain regions.

In an explanation given to BSE, Zomato shared three key points where the company mentioned the reason for the strike, why it had to close some stores and the material impact of the strike on the company’s business.
1. Over the last few days we have made changes in the Delivery Partner Payout Structure with respect to Blinkit Business to meet the needs of the Delivery Partners, improve the customer experience, and prevent cancellation/order rejection frauds by some of the Delivery Partners in the system can be reduced. Such changes are made from time to time as per the need.
2. We had to close some stores for a few days to ensure the safety of our employees at the stores and delivery partners. Most of these stores have now resumed operations.
3. These disruptions and changes do not have any material impact (i.e. less than 1% revenue impact) on the operations/financial performance of the Company and hence we believe that the event does not warrant any disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (LODR) Regulations. does not give guarantees. , 2015.
