Boat Maker Called To Check If Vessel Was Modified From Original Design | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: Was the boat fit enough to carry all the ill-fated passengers? That’s the one question to stay in focus on the ‘15-seater’ boat’s condition.
Officials from the company that manufactured the boat, meanwhile have been called to the city for its inspection on Monday. “The officials will check the condition of the boat, see if it was modified, or was any part of the boat defective,” said Anupamsinh Gahlaut, city police commissioner. Gahlaut further said that the boat also had a roof above, which may, or may not have, been a part of the original design. The idea is to verify if the boat was in proper condition.
Cops investigating the case said that none of the two boat operators had the licence or training to drive the boat. “It was criminal negligence. How can they know how much weight the boat can carry, and on top of it one of them didn’t even know how to swim!” the police added.
When asked about the key accused, Gahlaut said, “They are still absconding. We have raided different spots to nab them and our teams are on their trail. They will be caught soon.” The SHE team also met the children who survived in the incident and counselled them on Sunday.
The investigating team also visited Harni lake on Sunday and did reconstruction of the incident apart from gathering details about the entertainment arena.
Meanwhile, over 500 citizens gathered in the candle march organized by the Chhatra Sansad near Mahatma Gandhi Nagargruh on Sunday evening.
During the condolence meet, suggestions were made to ensure that Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) supervises such entertainment rides regularly and safety should be the first priority.
