A 15-year-old boy died due to drowning in the swimming pool of an entertainment club in Madanayakanahalli on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Dhanush, a resident of Madanayakanahalli and SSLC student in a government school.
According to the police, the incident took place at RD Recreation Club around 10.30 am. Dhanush had gone to take a dip in the pool with some of his friends. He was told that the water level in the pool was low, so he jumped in and could not get out of the water. His friends were unaware that he did not know how to swim, so they did not examine him. After some time they saw that Dhanush was missing, so they raised an alarm. Police said someone jumped into the pool and found her unconscious.
He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on examination. Dhanush was the son of a daily wage laborer couple. Alleging negligence on the pool management, the family staged a sit-in demanding compensation.
The police arrested the manager of the club on charges of causing death due to negligence for further investigation.
