BS Yediyurappa’s son Vijayendra formally takes charge as Karnataka BJP president | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: Recently appointed Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra officially assumed his role at the state party office on Wednesday.
The event saw the presence of former chief ministers B S Yediyurappa, Basavaraj Bommai, D V Sadananda Gowda, and other senior party leaders.
Vijayendra, a 47-year-old first-time MLA and the son of BJP veteran Yediyurappa, who is also a member of the party’s influential Parliamentary board, took on the position on November 10.
Having previously served as the party’s state unit’s general secretary and vice-president, Vijayendra succeeded Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Kateel, a three-time Lok Sabha member from Dakshina Kannada, had completed his three-year term as the BJP state president and received an extension last year.
Vijayendra emphasized that his appointment was based on his role as a dedicated party worker, not simply because he is Yediyurappa’s son.
He highlighted the challenges of strengthening the party organization, fostering unity, and securing the maximum number of seats in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
