BSNL: BSNL may launch 4G services in Punjab this month, claims report – Times of India

The report quoted a senior BSNL official as saying that the services would be launched in Amritsar and other cities Ferozepur, Punjab has two high revenue earning areas for the telco. The sale of 4G SIMs will start immediately after the launch within 7-10 days in these cities.

Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) recently informed the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) that it has received advance purchase orders (APOs) worth over Rs 15,000 crore from public sector telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). “A consortium led by Tata Consultancy Services Limited has received an advance purchase order worth over Rs 15,000 crore from BSNL, a 100% government-owned public sector undertaking, for deployment of 4G networks across India.” Intimation to Stock Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
The TCS-led consortium that will deploy the order includes Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and Tejas Networks. The deal, valued at around $1.8 billion, is one of the largest deals closed by the IT services major in recent quarters. The biggest deal TCS did in the January-March quarter was about $750 million.
