Businesses have responsibility to build stronger India: Mukesh Ambani – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Mukesh Ambani on Saturday emphasised the crucial role of business community in fostering a stronger and more inclusive India.
Speaking at an event organised by the Gems and Jewellery Exports Promotion (GJEPC), the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries expressed confidence in the industry’s potential to achieve USD 100 billion in exports in the coming years.
“All of us collectively in the business community have a responsibility to build a stronger, better and more inclusive India to fulfil the vision and the goal that our PM has set for us, that of a Viksit Bharat, a fully developed India in the next decades,” he said.
Ambani commended the gems and diamonds sector for its significant contribution, with exports reaching USD 40 billion and generating over 50 lakh jobs.
Originating from humble beginnings, Ambani praised the industry’s progress led by individuals from Palanpur, expressing pride in their achievements.
Acknowledging his family’s roots in Kathiawad, Ambani suggested collaboration opportunities with the Palanpuris, emphasizing that partnerships could lead to greater opportunities. “Sometimes partnership between the Kathaiwadis and Palanpuris can make the opportunity bigger. The bigger the pie, the better for us,” he said.
He mentioned his daughter-in-law, Shloka Mehta, as the daughter of Russel Mehta from Rosyblue, a pioneering company in the sector. Ambani expressed gratitude for having Shloka in the family, noting her warmth and wisdom.
At the event, Mehta was honored with the Lifetime Achievement award, with Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais in attendance. Ambani’s remarks underscored the industry’s progress and the importance of collective efforts in shaping a promising future for India.
