Canada’s Justin Trudeau hails late Shinzo Abe as ‘great man of vision’ – Times of India

Ottawa: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Said on Friday that he was saddened by the assassination of the former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe and respected him as a visionary.
“Killing of abe shinjo Incredibly shocking – and I am deeply saddened. The world has lost a great visionary, and Canada has lost a close friend,” Trudeau said while offering condolences to Abe’s widow Aki and the people of Japan.
“You will be missed, my friend,” he said.
Abe, 67, was pronounced dead at a hospital on Friday after being shot at a political event in the Japanese city of Nara.
A 41-year-old man has been arrested.
Footage broadcast by NHK shows him being escorted to the ground by security after at least two shots were fired from a weapon described as a “handmade gun”.
