Candidates spend time with families after voting

After a vigorous campaigning for more than a fortnight, candidates of various political parties in seven assembly constituencies got time to spend with their relatives on Thursday.

The district has one minister, three MLAs, one former chief minister, two former ministers and one former CM’s political secretary in the fray.

After spending restless nights ahead of the polling day, the candidates felt some relief after the polling went off peacefully on Wednesday night.

On Thursday he woke up from a deep sleep and first with his family members and then with his near and dear ones and party workers who worked day and night with him.

Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who has captured the nation’s attention by rebelling against the BJP, exuded confidence of winning by a huge margin and was seen interacting with party workers and close aides on Thursday.

His rival and BJP state general secretary Mahesh Tenginakai spent some time with his pet ‘Rocky’ after having a relaxed chat with family members, including his sisters, who had come to wish him.

Former minister Vinay Kulkarni, who has been barred from entering Dharwad district, spent time in neighboring Belagavi district while his wife Shivleela and children got some time to spend with their pets.

Former Minister Shankar Patil Munekoppa, MLAs Prasad Abbayya, Amrit Desai and Kusumavati Shivalli spent time with their family members on a cloudy day with light rain.

Later in the evening, most of the party workers gathered at their leaders’ homes for informal talks.
