Ceiling plaster falls in housing scheme, three narrowly escape Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: Plaster came off from the ceiling of an apartment of Mukhyamantri Grih Yojana.MGYbuilt in plan Sayajipura City area. Three members of a family living there narrowly escaped.
The incident took place around midnight at Vinayak Residency, a mid-income group (Me) – Beneficiary. The plaster of the bedroom of a house in the scheme fell even when the woman Akshata Pandya, her son and her elderly mother were present there. Pandya told the media persons that he had shifted to the house only six months ago. For some time now, the family members had noticed cracks in the plaster of the ceiling. He said that he heard a sound and became alert in the night. Pandya said that his mother was ill and bedridden and he had to cover her to ensure that the material did not fall on her.
Executive Engineer in charge of Housing Dr. vmcNilesh Parmar said that the plan was made in 2017. “The house was closed for five years. It seems that there must have been wind between the plaster and slab of the ceiling which led to the incident.
Parmar said that he has not received any such complaint from other houses in the scheme. He, however, said that a team of officials would visit the spot and conduct a detailed survey.
Leader of Opposition in VMC Ami Rawat said work on the housing scheme was incomplete. In a letter to the VMC commissioner, Rawat pointed out that a rainwater harvesting system and community hall were not provided at the site. He said that instead of two lifts, only one lift has been arranged in the apartment.
