Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik has been making rhetoric against the Modi government on several occasions. Be it Kisan Andolan, Agneepath Scheme or any other. This time he has commented on hoisting the flag of Nishan Sahib at Red Fort on the occasion of Republic Day in 2021. He has justified the installation of the flag of Nishan Sahib on the Red Fort during the farmers’ movement. According to Malik, it is not wrong to hoist the flag of Nishan Sahib at the Red Fort on Republic Day.
He said that the Sikh youth had not hoisted the flag of any party and did not hoist it where the Prime Minister hoists it, but he was told as if an act of sedition had been done. During a program in Panipat, Malik said that the Prime Minister of the country has the first right to hoist the flag at the Red Fort, but after that if anyone has the right, then it is for the Sikhs and we (Jats).

The Governor said that the Sikh Guru was beheaded in front of the Red Fort as he had refused to convert. If his son does not have the right to hoist the flag at the Red Fort, then who has?
