Hello,

NCERT has removed some information related to Mahatma Gandhi, Nathuram Godse and RSS from the Class 12 Political Science book. That part has been removed from the book, in which there was mention of action against organizations that spread communalism after the assassination of Gandhiji. It also included the talk of banning organizations like RSS by the government for some time.

Earlier, changes were also made in the syllabus of Class 12 History, Civics and Hindi. On this, NCERT Chief Dinesh Saklani said that due to Kovid, there was a lot of loss in the education of the students, the children remained under stress. In such a situation, this decision was taken to reduce the burden of syllabus. NCERT has categorically denied making such a change under the pressure of any ideology.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court refused to hear the petition of 14 opposition parties alleging arbitrary use of central agencies like CBI and ED. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the opposition parties, said that 121 leaders were investigated by the ED, out of which 95% are from the opposition parties. Whereas CBI investigated 124 leaders, out of which more than 95% are from opposition parties.

A bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud said that separate guidelines cannot be made for politicians. The bench said that when you have a personal criminal case or multiple cases then you can come to us. It is not possible to decide guidelines only on the basis of statistics. After this remark of the court, the opposition parties withdrew the petition.

Today’s major events, which will be watched

  1. Hearing in Delhi High Court on Manish Sisodia’s bail plea.

1. Many things related to Mahatma Gandhi were removed from NCERT, information about Gujarat riots was also removed

In June 2022, NCERT released a list, which told what would be removed from their books and what would be added. It was alleged that some such things regarding Gandhi were also removed, which were not there in the list released in June. The change was reflected directly in the books printed this year. On this, NCERT Director Dinesh Saklani said that the syllabus was changed in June 2022, we have not done anything new this time. Some changes were missed in the previous notification due to ‘ignoring’.

Here, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, ‘We have objections to the things that NCERT took out. Godse killed Gandhi because he was a believer of Hindu-Muslim unity, banned RSS, removed everything that was in the book about democracy. What does BJP want to do? You are inculcating hatred in the hearts of innocent children, you erased the name of Mughals, what will be left after doing this?

2. The demand of the opposition was that leaders should be arrested only in serious crimes, SC refused.
Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued that the government is misusing the investigative agencies to weaken and intimidate the opposition. This is detrimental to democracy and the rule of law. On this, CJI DY Chandrachud said, ‘When you say that the importance of the opposition is decreasing, then its solution lies in politics, not in the court. It would be dangerous to issue guidelines in the absence of facts.

In the petition filed by 14 opposition parties under the leadership of Congress, there was a demand to issue new guidelines regarding arrest, remand and bail. It was demanded that the courts should ban arrests in crimes other than serious physical violence. If the accused does not comply with the prescribed conditions, then he should be allowed a few hours of interrogation or house arrest.
