The legal noose is getting tightened on Atiq Ahmed, who is serving life sentence in the Umesh Pal kidnapping case. Today, the CBI court in Lucknow has framed charges against 12 people including Atiq and his son Umar in the property dealer kidnapping case. Atiq’s son Umar, who reached the court on appearance, told the media that the women of the house were being implicated. Atiq was connected in the hearing through video conferencing.

In 2018, there was a fight with a property dealer in Deoria Jail
Atiq Ahmed was lodged in Deoria Jail in UP in December 2018. At that time Mohit Jaiswal, a businessman living in Alambagh, Lucknow, came to meet him in jail. He later alleged that henchmen had forcibly picked him up from Lucknow and taken him to Deoria Jail in an SUV at the behest of Atiq.

Atiq Ahmed was met in the jail. In jail, Atiq’s son Umar and operatives beat him up and threatened to kill him. Along with this, the land worth crores was forcibly signed. Atiq’s gang had also demanded extortion from Mohit.

The court has framed charges against the accused Atiq Ahmed, Umar Ahmed, Pawan Singh, Zafrullah Mohammad Farooq, Irfan Ahmed, Mahendra Singh, Yogesh Kumar, Nitish Mishra, Ghulam Moin Siddiqui, Mohammad Hamza and Zaki Ahmed in the case. During the hearing in the special CBI court, Atiq Ahmed appeared from Sabarmati Jail through video conferencing. Farooq and Umar Ahmed were brought from Lucknow jail. Now the next hearing will be on 21 April.

The discharge utility was rejected on 27 March
Special CBI Judge Ajay Vikram Singh is looking into this case. On March 27, he had rejected the discharge plea of ​​accused Atiq and his son Umar in the case. The court had fixed April 7 as the date for framing of charges.

The High Court had taken cognizance of the whole matter
The incident was investigated by the Krishna Nagar police in 2018. After this, the Supreme Court took cognizance of the matter and ordered a CBI inquiry. The CBI started investigating the case on 12 June 2019. Four separate charge sheets have been filed against the accused in the case.
