China has said it will “fight to the end” to prevent Taiwan from declaring independence.

China’s military said on Saturday that a recent US seaplane flight through the Taiwan Strait deliberately disrupted the regional situation and jeopardized peace and stability.
Colonel Shi Yi, a spokesman for the People’s Liberation Army’s Eastern Theater Command, said in a statement that the military had mobilized air and ground forces to oversee the operation of American aircraft, which took place on Friday.
He said he strongly opposed the actions of the United States and said that his troops were on alert.
