The BJP councilor said that the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for dumping garbage at the residence of CM Bhagwant Mann, while a spokesperson of the CMO has denied the allegation.

A BJP councilor on Saturday claimed that the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for dumping garbage at the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, a charge denied by the CMO. A spokesperson of the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that no such fine has been imposed at the chief minister’s residence.

Local BJP councilor Maheshinder Singh Sidhu, however, said that the challan was issued in the name of Harjinder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) battalion. Sidhu claimed that the battalion is part of the chief minister’s security. The address mentioned in the challan is ‘House No-7, Sector-2, Chandigarh’, he said, adding that house numbers 44, 45, six and seven are part of the Punjab Chief Minister’s residence.

The councilor said that the complaints about the disposal of garbage behind the house number-7 by the employees of the Chief Minister’s residence had been coming from the residents for some time. He said that he was requested several times by the employees of the Municipal Corporation not to throw garbage outside the house, but it did not stop. Hence, the challan has been issued, Sidhu said.

Meanwhile, the CMO spokesperson said, “Challan has been issued for house number seven in Sector 2 which is currently with the paramilitary force and is not linked in any way to the chief minister.” ,
