CMRL to modernise two MTC bus terminuses, invites bids for preparing DPR | Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: Passengers waiting to board MTC bus in the depot cum terminus at Anna Nagar West and KK Nagar could soon grab a quick snack before they begin their journey as Chennai Metro Rail Limited has planned to modernise the two depots and develop them with commercial spaces.
On Monday, CMRL has invited tenders for the selection of consultants for preparing detailed project reports to modernise the bus depot cum terminus with commercial development.
According to the tender, the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board had identified 16 depots/terminus owned mostly by MTC for modernisation including commercial development and to upgrade the existing facilities and infrastructure. 10 of those terminals have been integrated with metrorail phase-2 network as part of multimodal integration.
“Since CMRL has to restore the terminus after completion of phase-2 construction activities, we may also develop commercial development over the terminus. CMRL has earmarked Anna Nagar west Depot and KK depot for which a detailed project report has to be prepared,” CMRL said in two separate tenders.
The scope of work for the consultant may include validate data from MTC, analyse traffic and parking survey findings based on growth rate projections of earlier studies, potential market pricing for various development components identified, to propose implementation strategy for the project, to suggest the optimum disposal strategy for licensing the retail spaces within existing and proposed stations, preparation of suitable policy and procedure documentation where required, to ensure successful achievement of desired outcomes and planning and implementation of suitable marketing/promotional strategies through various mediums to ensure maximum reach and impact of various commercial CMRL proposals.
