Colleges once again question the need for cap. Nagpur News – Times of India

Nagpur: the end of board exam The season of results now marks the beginning of a busy admission period for Class XI in Nagpur, and with it a fair share of controversies.
General The Admission Process (CAP) for Class XI has an annual run-in with those opposed to it, who claim that there is no value addition by mandating all junior college admissions in the city through this system.
A senior trustee of the school said, “The political pressure from the region was strong enough to get it done, so they are off the hook. But Nagpur remains part of the CAP because we have been unable to exert enough pressure.”
While there are quite a few complaints against CAP in colleges, it is mainly about the actual need for it. “Every year 20,000 seats get vacant. Do you need CAP merit list-based admission process when everyone is going to get admission anyway? It makes sense when there are 200 applicants for 100 seats. In our case, there are an average of 65 applicants for 100 seats.
The second issue is that the CAP schedule runs for a long time and colleges feel that starting the academic session before all the rounds are over can lead to the problem of “leaving behind” many students. Another school and junior college trustee said, “Outside the city limits, CAP is not applicable. So, we have colleges that are barely 5 minutes apart, but one is covered under CAP while the other is not.” The latter can take direct admission and start their academic session from the permissible date, while city colleges may have to wait till a substantial number of seats are filled.
with both CBSE And State Board Class X Result Declared, Online Registration in CAP is currently going on. Students can fill the online form till June 12, after which the first merit list will be declared on June 15. The same process is repeated for further rounds till the end of July.
