GUWAHATI: The Cotton University (CU) will not entertain any request from students seeking admission to undergraduate courses through any mode other than CUET (UG).
A large number of students from the state have not applied for CUET (UG) due to lack of awareness about the All India Entrance Test for admission to undergraduate programmes. Cotton University and Bhattadev University are the only two state universities Assam Who have appeared in CUET (UG). With over 30 departments, CU, which was upgraded from the prestigious Cotton College, continues to be one of the most preferred destinations for students from various education boards.
After not registering for CUET (UG), many state board candidates are knocking on the doors of CU to inquire for “local admission”, CU administration said that it will enroll only those students who appear in CUET (UG) will come through. University sources said more candidates from state boards may visit the university campus in the coming days after the Class XII state board results are declared.
University sources said that it has 10,000 applicants who are applying for CUET (UG), seeking admission in CU, even as many major state universities of Assam, including Gauhati University, have conducted CUET (UG). have not participated in “We have around 1,000 seats in UG courses and it is expected that all the seats will be filled by CUET (UG) applicants,” said the academic registrar.
