Court Issues Release Orders Of Advocate ‘tortured’ In Custody | Chandigarh News – Times of India

Bathinda: The court of Muktsar chief judicial magistrate Raj Pal Rawl on Thursday issued the release orders of advocate Varinder Singh, who has accused Muktsar police of inhuman treatment and torture in custody.
In Its order directed to Muktsar jail superintendent, the CJM court said that the lawyer has been discharged in the case. “The authorities are hereby directed to release the accused at once at the receipt of the orders, if he is not required in any other case.”
Advocate Varinder Singh along with another person was arrested on September 15 on the accusation of mistreating a police party arresting them in some NDPS Act case. They had alleged that they were subjected to unnatural sex in the custody and on medical examination, 18 injury marks were found on the lawyer’s body.
The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana took up the matter with chief minister Bhagwant Mann and after that Muktsar SP (investigations) Ramandeep Singh Bhullar, CIA in-charge Raman Kumar and constable Harbans Singh were arrested on Wednesday.
Faridkot Range DIG Ajay Maluka and Muktsar SSP Harmanbir Singh Gill have been transferred and Gursharan Singh Sandhu has been appointed Faridkot IG and BS Meena has taken charge as SSP Muktsar.
