Congress functionaries have appealed to the Election Commission to cover the Shivamogga airport terminal, which has been made like the BJP’s election symbol lotus, till the elections are over.

KPCC secretary K. Devendrappa and others met the Election Commission in Shivamogga and Deputy Commissioner Dr. R.K. Handed over a memorandum addressed to Selvamani.

He alleged that the airport structure was designed like a lotus. Even when the design was drawn up, several organizations opposed it on the grounds that it would represent the symbol of a political party. However, the BJP government went ahead with the plan and spent a huge amount of money to build the airport as per the design of their choice.

“The Election Commission should effectively implement the Model Code of Conduct by covering the structure,” he demanded.

Further, he alleged that advertisement stickers featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai continued to be displayed on KSRTC buses. He demanded the administration to remove him as well.

Kavita Raghavendra, Madhu Kumar and other leaders were present.
