“Plastic and paper cups are banned inside the premises. Those who enter with plastic bottles or covers should be tagged with Rs 10 stickers. The protocol extends to the food court as well. When the evening rush begins at the tea shop, hot chilli bhaji and pazham pori are served wrapped in a banana leaf. Cold beverages such as lime soda and freshly made tea are served in glassware. “We stopped giving tissues from day one because the cleaning staff noticed that it was spread carelessly. For the food items, we use banana leaves bought from Chalai market for around Rs 700 per stack. We require around three to four stacks every day and sometimes even that is not enough,” said a school cooperative society employee.
Minimize the use of plastic and serve lunch in steel plates.
