Cyber Frauds Dupe Man Of 17.5l | Surat News – Times of India

Surat: The cybercrime police of Surat city have nabbed four persons in connection with cheating a 47-year-old engineer to the tune of Rs 17.5. The accused, along with 10 others, lured Kunal Jariwala with good returns in investing in shares with ‘upper circuit’ potential.
Police booked 14 persons for cheating and conspiracy on Sunday and arrested four of them on Monday.
Those who were arrested were identified as Nilesh Hirpara (32), Bipin Sabhaya (36), Rohit Dudhat (22) and Urvish Nasit.
These four are accused of having supplied to the gang their bank accounts where money paid by Jariwala were deposited.
On Dec 7, 23, Jariwala got a WhatsApp message for trading in the share market with good returns. He was offered to join ‘Goldman Sachs (India) Securities Investment Management Ltd’ and ‘Jonathan Simon Investment Chronicles Club’ groups.
Jariwala joined both the groups where two persons named Jay and Jonathan were group admins. They would give tips on share market. Many shares which they suggested for investment reached upper circuit. The admins told Jariwala that if he wanted to buy these shares, he needed to open an institutional account.
Jariwala was then given two links on WhatsApp and he downloaded two apps on his mobile. After that, he was asked to open accounts in those apps. He was asked to deposit money in his accounts for trading.
He kept on trading by depositing money in these accounts. He deposited a total of Rs 20.5 lakh between Dec 7, 2023 and Feb 7, 2024 in 11 different transactions. However, whenever he asked for withdrawal, he was allowed to withdraw only Rs 3 lakh.
When he asked for more withdrawal, he was asked to deposit Rs 5 lakh more for complete withdrawal.
Realising that he had been cheated, he filed a complaint with cyber crime helpline 1930 and also gave an application to cyber crime police. A formal FIR was registered on Sunday.
