After agreeing to the plan, a link was shared with Dasgupta to subscribe to three YouTube channels and he earned Rs 150 initially. later came the name of another woman Laxmi Asked him for his bank details to transfer the money. Dasgupta gave the details and Rs 150 was transferred to his account.
After that, Lakshmi sent her a link and asked her to join a group on Telegram. After joining the group, he kept subscribing to the channel through the link sent in the group. After a few days, Lakshmi lured Dasgupta with a higher commission (Rs 60 per task as against Rs 20 now) on participating in pre-paid tasks.
Dasgupta registered with the scheme and started transferring money in the name of pre-paid works.
Initially, he got three times the commission for transferring money. However, after transferring a large amount, money stopped coming into his account. Between May 6 and 15, Dasgupta transferred a total of Rs 30.20 lakh from his bank account to various bank accounts.
However, he got back only Rs 30,450 as commission, Dasgupta told the cybercrime police which launched an investigation into the fraud.
