Dakha Cops Arrest 2 With 1k Banned Tablets | Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: Ludhiana Rural police have arrested two peddlers, a man and a woman, and seized 1,062 intoxicating tablets from them, officials said on Saturday.
The arrested accused have been identified as Parminder Singh Happy of Changna village and Gurpreet Kaur of Waraich village.
Officials said that a team of Dakha police was carrying out patrolling in Mullanpur grain market to check anti-social elements when it received a tip-off about the accused persons involved in smuggling of intoxicating tablets.
As per the information, the duo was selling these tablets to their buyers at Waraich village, they added.
Cops said on finding the information credible, the team carried out a raid and arrested them with the contraband.
The accused have a criminal record and have 11 cases, most of which are related to drug peddling, registered against them, they added.
The police said that the accused were in jail and after coming out on bail, they resumed their drug business.
As per the police, they both are also addicted to drugs.
Officials said that a police remand of the accused will be sought from court so that they can be questioned about their nexus, if any.

Seven students have already been arrested and lodged in the central prison. The victim, a second-year student, was abused and beaten by a gang of eight students who demanded money from him. The victim’s parents took him to the police after the incident, leading to the arrests. The college management has suspended all eight students involved.
