Dating app Tinder to remove social handles from bios

New Delhi: Dating app Tinder on Friday announced changes to its existing community guidelines, in which it will remove social handles from public bios.

As the company explained, Tinder is not a place to promote businesses trying to make money — advertising social handles or links for members to gain followers, sell things, fundraise or campaign, Not to be promoted or shared.

To help combat this, Tinder said it would remove social handles from public bios.

“The majority of Tinder members are 18-25 years old, and Tinder is often their first dating experience. To guide these young daters as they begin their dating journey, Tinder is using this policy refresh to guide members on healthy dating habits. is doing to remind and educate about — both online and in real life,” Ehren Schlu, SVP of member strategy at Tinder, said in a statement.

To help members avoid oversharing and reduce the risk of being removed from the app, the company said members can use in-app features to be clear about their goals and the relationship types they want to be in. Start a conversation on the same page.

Furthermore, the dating app noted that there is no place on Tinder for any act or behavior that suggests, intends, or harms another member – either physically or digitally and as such assignments will be taken very seriously.

Members will begin receiving notifications of these updates through both the Tinder app and email.
