Decision to send Pakistan team to India will be taken at government level: Najam Sethi | Cricket News – Times of India

Karachi: The decision to send the Pakistan team to India for the ODI World Cup next year will be taken at the government level. pakistan cricket board Chairman Nazam Sethi Where is it?
Speaking in the context of the threat made by his predecessor, Rameez Raja, that Pakistan would consider pulling out of the mega event if India did not come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, Sethi on Monday said, “If the government says don’t Do not go to India, we will not go”.
“As far as Pakistan and India cricket relations are concerned, let us be clear,” Sethi told a press conference in Karachi. The decision on whether to play a tour or not to tour is always taken at the government level.
“These are only decisions taken at the government level, the PCB can only ask for clarity.”
Sethi said he would be in touch with the Asian Cricket Council on the issue of the Asia Cup, which Pakistan is scheduled to host next year.
“I will see what the situation is and then move forward. Whatever decision we take, we have to make sure that we are not isolated.”
Sethi also said that he or the PCB has no objection if Raja decides to return to the commentary box.
“I have the utmost respect for Rameez and we would never oppose his return to the commentary box.”
Sethi dismissed the accounts of his expenses put up on his website by the previous PCB management as false.
Sethi said, “When I go back to Lahore, the first thing I am going to do is bring the real situation before the public. The figures given about me with regard to expenditure are not at all correct.”
Sethi also defended the current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s decision to remove Raja from the post of PCB chairman.
“I was the speaker in 2018. When Imran Khan’s government was formed, I resigned, though some people in the corridors of power told me that no one would remove me. I have always believed that (the) prime minister has the right to choose his ” candidate to run cricket affairs, so I resigned.”
Sethi also said that he was in touch with former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur as he wanted him back.
“Mickey is currently under contract with Derbyshire and I have spoken to him. There will be clarity over the next 8-10 days and we have sought his advice on the new coaching setup for the team.”
“When he (Arthur) was with the team, he did a great job and he was responsible for promoting Babar Azam. He also maintained a lot of discipline and fitness in the team. I am sure he will be good for the team ” again if it is available.”
