Deepinder Goyal turns delivery boy as Zomato clocks record number on New Year’s Eve

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal became the delivery executive for the online food delivery platform on New Year’s Eve.

On the eve of becoming a foot soldier of the Company, Goyal placed several orders, the first of which was interesting at the Company’s office. Tweeting a picture of himself delivering orders, he tweeted, “My first delivery brought me back to the Zomato office. Lolwut!” Goyal also updated his Twitter bio to read “Delivery Boy Zomato and Blinkit”.

The Zomato CEO placed three more orders in a busy day before returning to the officer. Goyal revealed one of the orders he had given to an elderly couple to celebrate New Year’s Eve with their grandchildren.

With the New Year celebrations going on in full swing, Zomato has had a busy day. Deepinder Goyal claimed that orders were not “slowing down”. In another tweet, he said that the orders placed by the company on December 31 were more than the combined orders in the first 3 years of our food delivery service. “Fun Fact : Orders delivered today >> Sum of all orders delivered in first 3 years of our food delivery service,” read Goyal’s tweet.

Live tweeting the events of the day, Deepinder Goyal claimed that the company had surpassed the previous New Year’s Eve number by 6:30 PM on December 31, 2022. Looks like we’ll be hitting crazy milestones today. If we manage to stay alive. Nervous,” he tweeted.

Zomato had delivered over 2 million orders on December 31, 2021. The final numbers for this New Year’s Eve are yet to be made public by the company.

New Year’s Eve brought a busy day for Zomato’s rival Swiggy as well. The company’s CEO Sriharsh Majesty claimed in a tweet that Swiggy had delivered over 13 lakh orders till 6:33 pm on December 31. Apart from food orders, the company’s grocery delivery arm Instamart also saw good numbers.

Good business The last day of 2022 has brought some positive news for Swiggy and Zomato as both the companies hit the headlines for layoffs.
