Air India: A Delhi-bound Air India flight sought priority landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday after it suspected a cracked windshield. According to reports, the plane which had taken off from Pune landed safely. News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that the pilot of the plane asked for a priority landing at the Delhi airport after a suspected mid-air rift.

Meanwhile, Air India also revised the pay structure of its pilots and cabin crew, which includes revision of flight per hour rate for pilots. Under the new structure, a trainee pilot’s salary is now Rs 50,000, while that of a senior commander will be Rs 8.50 lakh per month, while the guaranteed flying allowance component has been increased to 40 hours from the existing 20 hours.

However, this remained far less than in the pre-pandemic period when Air India pilots were entitled to a guaranteed 70 hours of flight time. Similarly, the salary of a new cabin crew has been pegged at Rs 25,000 per month, while a cabin executive will get Rs 78,000 per month, according to the circular.

SpiceJet flight returns to Delhi after false warning

Earlier on Tuesday, a Srinagar-bound SpiceJet flight returned to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport after a false alert, the airline’s spokesperson said. “On April 18, a SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-8373 (Delhi-Srinagar) returned to Delhi as AFT cargo fire light illuminated the cockpit,” the spokesperson said.

According to a SpiceJet spokesperson, the lights were later extinguished following action taken by the flight captain. “Prior to landing, all operational parameters were found to be normal and the aircraft landed safely and passengers were deplaned normally,” the spokesperson said.
