Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Update: The construction of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to be completed by December 2024, a senior central government official said in Indore today (June 8). Newly appointed Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Anurag Jain said that with the completion of the expressway, the travel time between the two cities will come down to 12 hours from the present 24 hours.

He said that vehicles will be able to run at a speed of 120 km per hour on the road. Before talking to reporters, Jain reviewed the ongoing national highway projects worth Rs 26,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh. Under these projects, about 7,700 km of roads have been constructed in the state so far.

Jain told reporters that out of the 1,350-km Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, 245 km passes through Madhya Pradesh. He said that out of nine pillars in the State, work has been completed on eight pillars.

The official said that the first of the four multi-modal logistics parks proposed in the country would be built in Indore. He said the acquisition of 300 acres of land for the facility would be completed by September and construction would begin thereafter under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
