Delhi reports 520 fresh COVID-19 cases, one dead

Delhi recorded 520 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday with a positivity rate of 3.44 per cent, while one more person succumbed to the viral disease, according to health department data.

With this, Delhi’s COVID-19 caseload rose to 19,42,425 and its death toll rose to 26,289, it showed.

According to the data, fresh infections were reported out of 15,114 COVID-19 tests conducted a day ago.

On Wednesday, Delhi recorded 490 coronavirus cases with a positivity rate of 3.16 per cent and three deaths due to the disease.

On Tuesday, the city recorded 400 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 2.92 per cent and a fatality rate.

The city on Monday recorded 280 cases of the disease with a positivity rate of 4.21 per cent.

Of the 9,490 beds for COVID-19 patients in Delhi hospitals, only 117 were occupied on Thursday. The health department said in its bulletin that beds in covid care centers and covid health centers are lying vacant.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Delhi now stands at 1,935, up from 1,966 on the previous day. It said that 1,318 patients are in home-isolation.

The bulletin said that at present there are 233 containment zones in the national capital.

Delhi has reported a few cases of Omicron’s ba.4 and ba.5 sub-versions, which are highly transmissible, but experts have asked people not to panic as these sub-types do not cause serious infections. .

The number of daily COVID cases in Delhi touched a record high of 28,867 on January 13 during the third wave of the pandemic.

The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 14, the highest during the third wave of the pandemic.
