Dengue has killed 11 people, says Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Kolkata News – Times of India

Kolkata: This season, 11 such people who did not have any comorbidity have died due to dengue. Mamata Banerjee Told Bengal Assembly on Wednesday. The CM said that six of these deaths occurred in government hospitals, the rest in private hospitals.
The CM said, “During the puja, the positivity rate was the highest at around 13%. Most of the cases were from Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, Howrah Hooghly, Murshidabad and Siliguri. Cases have come down in the last month, the positivity rate is now around 7%.”
Dengue cases have been very less in the last two years covid, He said. “Cases have increased after some years due to natural reasons. In the last two years these were less, but have increased this year. It is natural that the cases have increased. Dengue virus mutates its genes. In the last two years Dengue cases were less, but this year it increased. However, it is under control now.”
Banerjee said that earlier around 1,100 to 1,200 cases were coming daily. Currently the daily count is around 500.
The CM said, “We have asked the health department to conduct regular surveillance, conduct fever clinics, keep testing and platelet facilities open and prepare public awareness campaigns. Door-to-door survey and garbage cleaning work.” This has to be continued till the spread of dengue stops.”
There has been a decrease in dengue cases as compared to last month. Banerjee Told. “I have asked the departments to conduct vigilance and house-to-house survey till the dengue cases subside completely,” he said, adding, “Winter is coming, and it is expected that the cases will come down now.”
“Dengue cases are being reported in other states as well. But there is a Supreme court Decision, for which the number of cases could not be uploaded in the online portal. The Center also could not upload the cases on the portal.”
