Chandigarh: Got parole of one month in jail Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Who was lodged in a jail in Rohtak, Haryana after being convicted in rape cases in 2017.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is serving a 20-year jail term for raping two female disciples at his ashram in Sirsa, where the Dera is headquartered.
A senior police officer of Rohtak jail was quoted by PTI as saying that Singh has been granted parole for one month and came out of jail on Friday.
Earlier in February, the Dera chief was given leave of three weeks.
He was convicted by a special CBI court in Panchkula in August 2017.
The sect chief was lodged in Rohtak’s Sunaria jail.
The news agency quoted sources as saying that the Dera chief is likely to visit Dera Sacha Sauda Ashram in Barnawa, Bhagpat in Uttar Pradesh.
