Dera Sacha Sauda chief out on month’s parole, SGPC slams ‘double standards’ Chandigarh News – Times of India

ROHTAK/AMRITSAR: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singhwhich is recorded in Rohtak‘s Sunaria Jail, was granted one month regular parole on Friday. He will spend 30 days in his tent in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat.
Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee (SGPC) has condemned the decision and said that it shows double standards. Haryana Government will give parole to Dera chief
Gurmeet, who is serving a 20-year jail term for raping two of his disciples at his ashram in Sirsa, was sentenced to life imprisonment along with three others for the murder of a journalist in January 2019.
Sources said the Dera chief had applied for parole for 40 days. Earlier, he was released on 21-day leave from February 7 to February 27 this year to meet his family members in Gurgaon.
Sources said security clearance was sought from the UP government after Gurmeet applied for parole. After receiving his “no objection”, the Haryana government allowed parole. A video is going viral on social media in which Gurmeet is appealing to his followers not to come to Baghpat Ashram.
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said, “On one hand the government is not releasing Sikh prisoners despite completing their jail term, while on the other hand Gurmeet Ram Rahim is convicted in heinous crimes of rape and murder. Repeatedly released from jail.”
