Despite row, India allows essentials export to Maldives | India News – Times of India

At the request of the Maldives government, India has allowed the export of certain quantities of essential commodities, including sugar, wheat, rice, and onions, for the year 2024-25, the Indian high commission said in Male on Friday.
The announcement comes amid a diplomatic row between the two countries since Nov when pro-China President Mohamed Muizzu took the oath, and within hours demanded India to repatriate its military personnel from his country.
On X, Indian high commissioner said this was being done as per “a unique bilateral mechanism”, under which the quotas for each of these items have been revised upwards. “The approved quantities are the highest since this arrangement came into effect in 1981”.
